Piano in Apartment II.
On the fourth floor of a block of flats stood a functioning piano. The apartment’s front door had a broken lock, as in thousands of similar cases. I walked right into the room where the piano stood alone. The hammers were soaked with water and catching between the strings, because someone had left the window open. Therefore, this piece is built from tone clusters, within which you can sometimes hear magnificent aliquots and natural reverb. I left the clusters just as I recorded them and when I stopped playing I did not dare to peek into other rooms of the apartment. I quietly left this piano as I found it and I also promised my friend never to tell where this functioning instrument with its beautiful white keys is to be found.
